Nigeria women have been the geniuses and muses behind culture, food and music beloved by billions worldwide. Unfortunately, the country has not always created outcomes for women that truly match the contributions made to the country. Nigeria women bear the brunt of the negative physical, psychological and economic effects of medical supply chain disruptions, lack of access to care, and high maternal and infant mortality rates.
Further compounding the issue, educational gaps limit the opportunity and agency for young girls to blossom into women ready to thrive independently in society and create opportunities for themselves and their families. As a result, Nigerian women are over-represented in negative health outcomes and per capita deaths, while suffering under-representation in secondary education, business, and political life.
